GreenTech Challenge by ESU NTUA 2022 insights
With great success and participation, the finals of the GreenTech Challenge by ESU NTUA 2022 took place on Sunday, December 11 of 2022, at the National Technical University of Athens. Greentech Challenge is currently the leading National Green Innovation Program, aiming to highlight the best greenthech start-ups and innovative ideas of Greece.
The Programme was carried out under the scientific responsibility of the UNESCO Chair on Green Innovation and Circular Economy of National Technical University of Athens, with innovation enabler and organization responsible the spinout company Mantis Beyond Innovation and under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The aim of the Programme is to educate, consult and highlight initiatives in green themes such as: Environment, Energy, Innovative Green Products & Advanced Materials, Factory of the Future, Mineral Raw Materials, Smart & Sustainable Cities, Sustainable Tourism and Blue Development.
In total, over 200 innovative solutions were submitted, of which 60 teams/companies advanced to the semi-final stage by presenting their product innovation and environmental impact to a panel of distinguished evaluators from the academic and business community.
The competition ended on Sunday 11th of December 2022, with the finalists of the two categories (14 Innovation Idea Holders and 8 Early Stage Startups) presenting their innovative ideas and solutions to the jury, in the presence of selected speakers, representatives of the country’s leading companies that support the Programme as Partners, professors and members of the academic community, mentors, students and young entrepreneurs.
The opening and programme presentation was carried out by Professor Konstantinos Aravossis, Director of the Economic Environment and Sustainable Development Research Unit at the National Technical University of Athens and UNESCO Chairholder on Green Innovation and Circular Economy and Secretary General of Forests at the Ministry of Environment and Energy. Prof.. Aravosis presented the impact of GreenTech Challenge by ESU NTUA in its 5 years of conduction, having contributed to the establishment of more than 21 companies, offering more than 6,000 hours of training and consulting and having created a green innovation community of more than 7,000 total participants and contributors.
Christos Nikoloudis, CEO & Founder of Mantis Beyond Innovation, the Innovation Enabler of the Programme, spoke about the the innovative platform Mantis IMS and its significant contribution to collecting date, processing it and utializing the results for registration and promotion of greentech startups anf innovative groups, during the Programme.
