Prof. Athanasios Rentizelas Senior Researcher

Education

Prof. Athanasios Rentizelas is a Mechanical Engineer from NTUA, with an M.Sc. in Operations Management from UMIST, Manchester, UK and has a PhD in Supply Chain Optimisation from the Section of Industrial Management & Operational Research in the School of Mechanical Engineering, NTUA.

Research Interest

Circular economy supply chains, Reverse supply chain design and optimisation, Sustainability assessment and performance improvement in multi-tier supply chains, Digitally enabled supply chains, Biobased & Energy supply chains, Decision support systems.

He is a Senior Researcher at the UNESCO Chair on Green Innovation and Circular Economy of the National Technical University of Athens.

Athanasios Rentizelas is currently an Associate Professor of Sustainable Supply Chains. His activities include research on circular economy and supply chains, coordination of research programmes and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, in the areas of circular economy, supply chains, logistics, operational research and engineering economics.

He is an active member of recognized international scientific organizations, like the Higher Education Academy (UK), the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Collaborative Engineering and the Board of the EURO (The Association of European Operational Research Societies) Working Group on Sustainable Supply Chains. He was awarded with the ‘Prize for OR for the common good’ by EURO in 2022.
